Presenting problem
Eleven years of recurring lower back pain, two episodes a year severe enough to cancel travel, and a working assumption that heavy lifting was permanently off the table. Previous care resolved each flare-up but never changed the pattern.
ASCEND approach
The assessment identified restricted hip internal rotation and negligible trunk endurance under time. Stabilise ran for nine weeks with breathing mechanics, loaded carries and hip range work before any hinge pattern was reintroduced. Condition then rebuilt load tolerance across a further twelve weeks, scheduled around a travel calendar rather than against it.
Outcome
No recurrence in nineteen months, deadlifting comfortably at bodyweight, and travel weeks no longer treated as a risk period.
